• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Another Graphic Idea

Livin' It Up!
I really like the tank graphics on my TE630, so why not do the same on the Terra. I think the tank is perfect for this and will see about having something made up; just the partial gunsight along the raised and angled flat on the 650 tank.

Im liking that.

I find the front fork sliders are the wrong colour. There is too much black on the front end. If someone could whip up some red and white graphics for the sliders, I would buy them.

Cheers

Here's a rough paper cutout taped to the tank. Ends are not complete and curves need to be refined but you get the idea. The tail that runs back toward the tank could be tapered a bit, maybe.

I hate the decals that came on my Strada. I wasn't quite ready to peel them off ...so I took some black tape and covered up the decal...looks much better. I like your idea. Have some made up. I think white would be best for the black Strada. I'd be in for a pair. I bet others would too.

I'm working on it; shifted the graphic a bit forward and tilted some more. Much better. Now I need to transfer it to the computer one way or another and get into the correct format. Wish we had a decal vendor on the forum!

Check out your local (vehicle) vinyl graphics shop. I bet their price would be much better than the vinyl sticker kiosk’s found in most shopping malls. Also, I bet the graphics shop would be totally willing to help you with the sizing and formatting of the graphic as well. They usually have a bunch of different styles and colors in stock for you to check out.

I wonder how your design would look in black vinyl on the red "tank"? I'm thinking of wrapping all of my white plastics in black....might even do the black "carbon look" style vinyl, I just need to get down to the vinyl shop and see how it looks in person.

Once I have the pattern done, doing them in black or/and white would be no problem at all. I thought about black as well, and think it would be great. If I get this underway I would just want folks to pay cost, but I will need to get with Coffee to see if he wants this under Vendors or not. First things first though. I'm working on the pattern today. I would like to have something done for me by my next ride in the middle of March.

Kevin, I'm laying out some base lines and offsets onto tape which covers the decal area. Then I can transfer that info to computer to get the perimeter, then make up the gunsight portion and locate over the pattern. A little involved, and slow. That's a long way of saying "No", version no. 2 will take a bit longer as it will be nearly final in size/shape. It'll definitely look better than no. 1.

Understood.

I am a mechanical engineer and work with ProE (cad software) all day. I always laugh at the people at work who have never used a cad tool ask "can you draw this up fo me real quick". Lol, uuuuuh....it tends to be a bit more involved than just scribling on a piece of paper!

I have AutoCadLT at home and it will be no problem to get a .dwg drawing made. Then I need to find a way to get into vector format such as ai, so the graphics folks can use it. There is some freeware out there but I don't know how easy it is to download. There will be a way.

Neat! I'm informed that I can also use a pdf and work it over here in the office to get it graphic company ready. I'll attempt to get a drawing made this evening.

Another thing I considered was that little triangle of red that extends below the seat and just in front of the white fender section. The black gas tank is on the forward edge. First thought was to make it black, but white would work as well. Net effect would be to make more of a "gas tank" appearance similar to the Moab or Baja concept bike. Low priority though.

Ahhh, another project on temporary hold. I tried to get a template on my AutoCad but not happy with the results. It looks like I won't get back to it until some time in late April. 'Haven't forgotten though. Someone better equiped for graphics want to volunteer?
