• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

AMA Nat Western Hare Scrambles 7-8MAR09

http://www.westernharescrambles.com/home.php

this is the replacement for the venerable Tecate HS (not really but that is how I think of it)

The pros race 6 (3 hour) starts at 1100 and is worth watching, there should be a fair amount of top offroad pros there.

PS just rode RynoLand last Tuesday with a Dirt Rider Magazine event,,that place is epic with super cool single track for the Hare Scramble.

Anza, Ca- 2/9/09: Western Hare Scrambles Rnd #1 (Rynoland) has been postponed.......

Effective immediately, Round #1 of the 2009 Western Hare Scrambles series at Rynoland has been postponed until the weekend of March 7 & 8th, 2009.

"It's unfortunate that I had to make this decision, but due to extreme weather conditions at this track high elevation and accessibility into Rynoland, we had to cancel this upcoming weekends opening round. We have arranged the date to be moved to the weekend of March 7 & 8th, 2009. We (WHS) apologize for any inconvenience." -Sean Reddish CEO/WHS

More more information on the series, please visit www.westernharescrambles.com

more time to install those ugly yellow (WORCS/West HS) number plates !!! and do some more TLC to the Husky,,,broken boot/pipe guard, cracked front fender, broken radiator tab to rad shroud,,,,,repack suspension linkage,,,,,,beat the skid plate back into form,,,replace right foot peg(@1/4-1/2 inch bent back, note: none of this due to crashes,,keep knockin on wood!!!...and bouncing off rocks,, R

this HS is still on my agenda may need to drop my goal of doing the round 3 of the H&H series, the local round, because too many events. and the HS is more my style of fun ride, tight wooded single track. and we have a planned ride coming near the end of Mar, just too many rides for the monthly budget.

no more takers??? c-mon this ride will be epic and truly a tight east coast style (tecate hare scrambles tite) and technical trail ride. Join the fun and the challenge, these things make for good bench racing stories!!

Out west tight stuff is in between the foot pegs it seems! :busted:

very very very good event, hats off to the Sean Reddish crew, conditions were great ground still held moisture but did have some dust, riders spread out quickly so never a real dust problem.
super tight snaky trails most with deep berm ruts,,like being on rails with whip like manzanita to keep you honest, open stuff was all safe and a great bowling ball rock pile section. plus other stuff thrown in , single track sand wash, black muddy area , and a short but fast sweeping right hand dirt road section.

the TXC carried me through with minimal effort, looks like 5th SenB from 15 riders (2hr event),,,you guys can ask how ajax did in the 3 hr,,,,,****************************************! with all those really fast guys. great event also about 60-65 deg just perfect. R

next week nat h&h then that is it for a while my budget is now out of sorts!!

i forgot,, still don't know who was the husky pro there at rynoland.need to check results list..but at the start the seat dzus came undone or was never secured,,,because his dang seat came off going into the first turn,,,,needless to say he stopped reattached and followed the rest of the AA pack in last place,,,,it looked pretty grim from the sidelines. he went on to reasonable finish, thats racing the simplest thing can ruin your day.
