  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Alpina rims...

Londin

Husqvarna
AA Class
Just a quick little weight update on the Alpinas...i got myself the std. tubeless - below is the weight savings!! Bike is a SMR 449 from 2011

Husky rims (No tyre, no sprocket, no rotor) Front size: 17 x 3.50, Rear size: 17 x 5.00 (rim is not org. but hub is)
Front: 4.08 kg Rear: 5.58 kg
Tube 0.55 kg 0.79 kg

Total 4.63 kg 6.37 kg

Alpina rims (No tyre, no sprocket, no rotor) Front size: 16.5 x 3.50, Rear size: 17 x 5.00
Front: 3.93 kg Rear: 5.12 kg

WEIGHT SAVINGS

Front: 0.70 kg Rear: 1.25 kg

Now where can I get a light weight front and rear rotor?
Especially the front as the std. one feels so heavy!

How bout that toxic moto guy? Didnt Kumz over on SMJ get some sweet raceworthy brakes from him?

All,

just bought myself a set of used supermoto rims for my txc 449, got a package deal of 2 x rear 17x5" and 1 x front 17x3.5". Reason I bought the 3 pack is I also have a spare ZX6r front end w/rim and want to try to convert the TXC in to a 450 super single road racer sometimes, but retain optionality for supermoto and offroad service. Basically 3 bikes in one.

Anyway, my question is (especially to Londin) what size tire would you run on the rear 5" rim to ensure adequate chain/swingarm clearance on a 449?

alpinas are nice...

I used the beringer cast iron rotor on mine, i think its heavier than a steel one.
