• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Yesterday after getting over a cold and getting a well timed break in the winter weather I took my WR250 to AR to ride the Almosta race course. My son was busy with high school basketball so I rode with new found Arkansas friends. It was a a great day of single track riding and I'm even more convinced that if you can ride the rocks and leaves down there you can ride anything.

Upon buying my Husky I immediately put a Perelli MT43 with the tubliss set up on the rear (@7psi) and it was ten times better than a knobby on the same terrain. The Pipe guard saved my pipe on the 1st get off when I hit a hidden loose rock in a leaf bed on a downhill (kudos to my body armor). Bills Motorcycle Plus got the jetting so close that after a tweak on the pilot screw and slightly raising the idle I was wondering why anyone complains about the factory carb. The power was smooth and linear all day and on tough up hill loose rock climbs with momentum killing corners at the bottom I was able to lug the motor put some weight an the trials tire and motor out of stuff that would have stalled my 200 gasser. The 200 GG is soon getting a flywheel weight and a tubliss MT43 by the way. The Husky's front brake is so much more powerful than the GG it took some getting used to to keep from sliding the front wheel or doing unwanted stoppies. Another noticeable difference is that the Husky is a lot better fit for a tall guy like me, it feels more stable but possibly doesn't flick around quite as easy as the nimble GG.

The Almosta race will get underway tomorrow on New Years Day so if you like tight single track in the hardwoods of AR I highly recommend that you attend. It is a fundraiser for Rider Down and a fun format that pairs an A rider with a B or C rider.
