• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

"Alley Sweeper" Urban Enduro, Portland, OR - April 19

The sixth annual Portland Alley Sweeper is coming up on April 19th! This is a fun ride through the non-paved alleys of Portland and not to be missed, it's absolutely a hoot! Don't let the word "enduro" fool you though, the more inappropriate the bike, the more fun it is. My favorite bike that I've seen there is a cobbled together BSA hardtail chopper. Yes, you need a street legal bike!*

Keep an eye on http://sang-froidridingclub.com/ for more event information. The local news stations are already getting people pissed off about it. A smile and a wave goes a long way!

saw the news report... talk about over reaction... Jesus some people have nothing better to do....

I hate to be the debbie downer here but this is kind of a mess and does not shed a good like on MC's in my opinion. 200 loud bikes, many not legal wheeling through what is virtually your back yard and leaving behind a muddy mess is kinda not cool. I personally skip this ride and go for a real off road ride. I like to do fun shit as much as the next guy but this is getting a little out of hand. Sorry if this upsets anyone, just my personal opinion. This event is going to come to a head soon and it is already getting attention it does not need. My 911 operator friend asked me about this the other day and said the cops are going to be looking for people doing illegal things this year. Be warned.

I can't wait, it's going to be a lot of fun again. I hope it rains this year. The last two times I went were sunny.

I hope you have fun Jon, but I'd spend my money to buy gas to get further from the portland area myself.:D

All of the reports I received were positive, with only one "attempted incident." LEO presence was minimal. I wound up being scheduled to teach at the last minute, so I had to miss it. :(
