  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Adjusting TPS after reinstalling engine?

AA Class
Rebuilding topend and crank on my 510 SMR. Sending the motor out to have it done but I noticed in the manual that upon removing and reinstalling the throttle body I will have to adjust TPS. Problem is I don't have diagnostic tool to do it and dealer is 200 miles away. Is it absolutely necessary to do this after I put the motor back in? If yes, is there a way to adjust it without ibeat?

I have had my throttle body off, I've had the head off, I've even had my TPS assembly taken apart, and I have never had to re-set the TPS.

Thanks again. Very helpful as always. A bunch of us are camping and riding the trails at the Sam Houston National Forest in Huntsville on the 28th and 29th this month. Would be a little bit of a drive for you, but if you come I owe you about a case and half of beer.

Thanks for the invite, I've heard that the trails there are the cupped single-track that I really suck at, and low speed sand is not a strength of mine either, faster sand I can handle. I tend to stick with the rocks...

Yeah they aren't as nice as the stuff you have in Austin but I live in downtown Houston so it's the best trails we have to offer within an hour of here. Only advantage of living downtown is being a great place to have a supermoto. We also do a big dual sport/motard trip every year in the hill country. I'll let you know when our next gets planned. Usually a bunch of twisties, fast gravel roads, beer, and getting schooled by the guys who are twice our age. I keep reminding myself that if I can't get better than them in the next 20 years then just wait 5 more and they will be dead. Can't outride me then. LOL.
