  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

About to pick up a '14 TXC 310R !

I currently have a 09 WR165, which has been great. I love the chassis/look/performance of a 310, but I'm A little nervous about the 310 after reading
about some of the problems on café posts. I really wanted to get a non-"orange" one though before they are gone! I am picking it up tomorrow.. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

Congratulations on the new bike and my last 5, 4 current Husky bikes are great ... Its a thrill every time I twist the throttle on any one of them ... I'm thinking you will find your bike the same also ...

I'd suggest as much seat time as possible on that 310 :) ... And I'd keep riding that 165 machine also ... Always a little interesting swapping back and forth on the different engines ...

Go get it. Try to save the original plastics on it. The 110 anniversary models will be collectables in future. Keep any materials with it, brochures, ads etc....

310 is ok. Chassis is great, motor is good. If it were me I'd hold out for one of the new 350's if you have your heart set on a medium bore. If I had the bucks, I'd get a new 501. No such thing as too much power. Just don't twist the throttle if you don't need it. Personally, if I crack the throttle hard, I want the front wheel in the air. 310 won't do that.

I think TXC is the way to go vs the TE - while TE has the convenience of plate , it has it's limitations / issues to the emissions limitations of 50 state legality.

Hope your TXC treats ya right!

I have a 13' TXC310 and 09' WR250. It took very little work to get the 310 where I like it. I had W.E.R. do the suspension for the rocky woods that I ride and had my dealer load the richer "Leo Vince" map to help combat hot engine flame outs in the woods.... definitely helped and runs perfect ! .... although it will still stall on occasion but is probably my fault as I switch back and fourth between the 2st and 4st alot. The power is more than enough for hard woods riding and it certainly does not feel any slower than my WR ! Low ground clearance kinda' sucks when "rock crawling" but you get used to it and learn to compensate.... get a good skid plate ! ... I also put on the enduro engineering oil line guard..... It's a good bike.... you're gonna love it ! .... Oh .... and one more thing ... Watch for oil seepage where wires come out of the rubber grommet on the stator/flywheel side ... if it gets excessive take the cover off and seal the wires with a little silicon ....

Thanks to all for the feedback. Picked up bike yesterday. Did some heat cycles, then rode easy. Great chassis, engine feels good, breaks good, starts well, need to change bars, suspension stiff for me (needs break in and set up of course ).My only concern is that the engine sounds noisy at idle?

NOTE; The supplied USB "service manual "is not really a service manual....no valve adjustmant proceedure, no rebuild info, etc that a service manual contains.
I cant find a service manual online either. Starting to panic about lack of support for this vehicle since the husky site is all ktm and no downloads there !!

The '13 Service manuals are listed here for now... http://www.husqvarnafactory.nl/pdf/2013.htm
Consider downloading the appropriate PDF now for reference as who knows the future. The '13 still does not show the sump drain plug. I use the sump plug to drain and check the cylindrical screen every other change. Sliding the hose off the nipple first makes the job easier.

Starts well and engine feels good? ... Music to all Husky riders ears as the past is on the past now ...

Not sure what forks on on that bike but many times dropping the oil level slightly goes a long way in soften up the ride ... And open the CLKers ...

Good brakes? The front brake on my 010 TC250s can make you into the stoppie king if you so desire ...I gotta watch on the streets I don't grab a handful and get rear-ended ...

Not sure on the idling engine noise ... If its not a straight-up loose-valve tapping sound, it might just be the way they sound new ...

I've been looking for this too ! .....Thanks for posting !!!

Open up the exhaust and you wont hear the engine :)

Change the oil now that youve run it a bit. That way you will drain the manufacturing impurities and will know what oil you have in it. Dont use a heavy oil and change it often....its working hard and there isnt much of it.

The 0-40 Mobil 1 for European cars works well.

I havent noticed ours being particularly noisey, but might be if youre used to a 2 stroke.
