• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

i get worried in the woods when i see badgers theyre tiny but cause alot of damage if hit.

did you see the guiness book of records man anywhere? that deer was obviously going for a record.:D

Looked like some good riding there ... And for whatever reason, the helmet cams seem to show anything at a much greater distance then they appear when doing the filming ... No point in even showing anything in the distance with my cam ...

Call that a deer DD**************************************** It looked like a Jack rabbit on royds. Just joshing you, thanks for sharing and it looks like a nice place for a ride, where where you?

Is Lark Canyon in San Diego county? Looks like fun!
Yes, near the town of Boulevard just off of I-8.

Like I said, the deer looked huge in person. They are mule deer. I don't know if mulies are smaller than other deer, but the ones at McCain Valley seem to be bigger than ones I have seen in other areas.

Thanks! I need to get down there and ride before it gets hot. I just started looking at the SMTS.info website. I think I'd like to try and ride as much of it as possible from the border north too. Has anyone ridden it?

I never knew that the website existed until you mentioned it.

Interesting that it's the "law" that there is supposed to be a OHV route the length of the state! I think I'm going to give it a go from the border heading north in a few weeks. I downloaded the tracks off the website, but I can't seem to get them loaded into my GPS. Hey how do you like your KLX300? My TE250 great but I need to get something a bit more road friendly. I saw a KLX300 for sale that was street legal. Does it have a wide ratio gear box? Just looking for something that will do 65. I picked up a NX250 on the cheap and it's a fun little machine, but it will need some mods for extended dirt.

The KLX can do 70, but I wouldn't want to wind it out for too long at that pace, unless I bumped the gearing a bit. It will run 55 all day long without blinking.

Dates '72 for the starting time and then in the 80s ... Bikes were a a little more important back then? Might be more interesting to see if all this law has been funded as prescribed by law ...

Thanks, I've never thrown a leg over on one. Guess I'll have to give one a try, although maybe the answer is a 510 geared for more for the street
