• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

A Little Mojave After The Rain

I went to Jawbone Canyon for the first time yesterday, 3rd time ever out in the Desert, I'm a Motocross track guy and I'm now a convert! The Dirt was perfect!

You guys must feel like modern day cowboys out there :) ...

Looked like a lose of momentum on that crash ... I know that rookie move all too well :(

^^I do... I live one mile from the beginning of those trails on an old horse ranch, totally off grid. Slowly making it a nice home without trying to make it too modern. We even park our cars, golf cart, motorcycles and atvs in the old horse shelters.

Sounds sweet ... ESP with the trail heads so close ... Myself, I like reverting back in time to some degree and just reading about and letting the world past on by at its speed ...

What's a golf cart good for out there?

I purchased this thing so long ago, I can't remember where I got it ... But it says alot on my attitude ... Not that I am that guy on the bike or horse, but we might could share a few beers someday :)

Jawbone Canyon? What a cool name!

I like riding MX tracks and I have did a few races last yr, but the most fun I can have on a track is when myself and just a few friends have the entire track all to ourselves and we just use the track for whatever and however we want ... Cutting across the track as needed, riding over specific jumps over and over ...Railing the same berms over and over ... I call this practice... A track is by far the best place to learn to jump your bike and maybe rail some berms but after that, head for the trails!

Riding trails \ desert stuff is just a great time to me ... You can stop and start as you please on trails, go as hard or fast as you desire ... Stop at a place you really like and rest, or watch your friends ride ... It really suits me just too good ...

Golf carts are great cause they float on sand... leave almost no imprint... get you around quickly when you are busy... pulls my little tool trailer every where... makes a great sunset ride vehicles for me & the wife... totally quiet so the birds and jack rabbits don't go flying... great for guests to tool around in... and I have three of them connected to the house... they make up about 50% of my home battery system when they are sitting. (We are off grid)

I have the only golf cart powered house in the Mojave as far as I know.
