  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc 99 WR 125 Powervalve assembly

Hey folks,
I'm reassembling my WR 125 and have a bit of a hangup with the powervalve actuation system. Is there any free play in the lever that opens the PV? I have the manual but it doesn't give much detail in that regard. If I adjust to where I think it should be there is a little bit of spring tension on it due to the engagement of the governor spring which you have to push against to get it to line up with the linkage. Any tips? Next time I'll mark it, but of course I forgot this time.
Thanks,
Jason

It appears this may be an area of concern on these bikes? I tried searching more last night and some have noted a possible condition of the powervalve not closing all the way due to slop in the linkage even on the correct tooth due to the bolt location on the lever and wear on the actuation spring on top at the PV mount. So it seems to be a combination of things throwing me off. Where I have it now, it's not getting forced to the closed position by spring tension. There is approximately 1/4" free play before you feel it engage the PV. I think I may be able to adjust this out by loosening that bolt and adjusting the lever location. Sound right? Or am I missing something?
