  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey guys, new to group here and have some questions concerning parts for a 250 wxc i picked up. I am in need of the following parts and not sure where to get them. Chain slider for the swingarm, rear roller for the chain guide, rear caliper pin, exhaust to cyl. o-ring and lastly a dreaded plastic left side cover. (new or used) I didnt know if these were all dealer parts or if I could find them aftermarket. Also another ?. are the bearings or bearing in the steering head a tapered type or not. I have some binding there and didnt know how these models were designed. Thanks for any info you can offer, great forum!!

welcome to the forum! very solid bike and good strong motor. most of the little pieces can be sourced from a place like halls husqvarna or ebay has some repro stuff like chain sliders and intake manifolds.

good luck on plastics, none are available. dc plastics are lacking in a quality look for most of their products but they are tooling up to replace the plastics for 95-02. so we will see.

i strongly recommend pulling the clutch cover and basket and inspect the kick idler gear. make sure the bolt is not loosening and there arent any case cracks there. could save you some expensive hassle. other than that these engines are very durable.

cant tell from your photo but if it has the original double wall pipe, a large power increase and weight reduction gain is possible.

the steering head bearings will need replaced on yours, and likely the races as well. they are a normal tapered roller design.

thanks for the good info, i'll check with Hall's. Bike has an FMF on it so should be ok. I haven't got to ride it yet, wanted to fix it's issues first. Today I found some slight slack in the swingarm bushings and some slack in one of the shock linkages. (small end of the wishbone shaped link) I'm sure i'll have more ? as the restore continues. Thanks again!!

welcome to the forum
looking at the picture you have 1998 plastic, graphics and matching seat cover
whats wrong with your left plastic, from your avatar picture it looks Ok

ya theres a gap between the front of the cover and the seat. The part # on the back of the cover is for the prior models. Not sure why they changed, they are so close to being alike. All the other plastics on it are great.

welcome to the italian husqvarna. some stuff stayed the same for a long time, other things would change slightly and be different

the seat changed shape and

the seat shape changed and the plastic changed with it thats all
are they pretty new or just old the reason i ask is the newer ones were easier to get and you might be able to swap with someone if they are in good overall condition
the 92 to 94 were the same and the 95 to 99 were the same

repair those items right away as damage can occur quickly and very expensive to correct

Halls had every piece I needed in stock. Now all i have left is replacing the steering head brgs and I believe the shock is leaking so off to House of Horsepower. If anyone comes across a used left number plate cover let know.
