  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

ok all, im new to this site , im looking for some help.
i have a 1991 wmx250. ive had it since 2008..
it has
-DynoPort pipe
-FMF turbinecore 2 spark arrestor.
-New clutch kit
-New piston.
i have found that parts for this bike for me are extremely hard to find...
When i ordered the piston for this bike, they ordered one that was like 150$. turned out to be the wrong one. ( the wrist pin sat like 1/16 of an inch shorter on it and caused the piston to smack the head before it would do a full revolution), then i had them order me the correct one and it turned out to be 370$.... I need to get the damn thing jetted properly still.. will prolly do that here in a week or 2 .
So, here are the questions i have...
-What plastics are interchangeable on my bike with different sizes and models , because all of mine are pretty shot outside of my front fender which is obviously pretty universal.
-Where can i find engine parts and what engine parts are interchangeable, anywhere between the carb to piston.
-When i took apart my carb the other week . i found that the floats were different weights... is there a reason to this (its a del-orto vhsb )
-why were there 2 different pistons for that bike?
I know im probably asking a lot for a new guy to the forums, but i jus want my baby to look good and run right.

I have a 91 WXE and shrounds are not hard to find 92-93 should work. I have a 92 set on mine right now. You might what to check Halls parts list. Not sure if the tank from a WMX is different then a WXE which would cause problems with the shrouds. I was told by Halls which has on their E-bay store a new cylinder and piston for a good price was for a WMX and would not fit a WXE. So that is why there is two different pistons. I do have a nos rear fender for a WMX let me know if you are intrested.

good call on the piston
but was not aware there were two
what part of the world are you in?

wow
looked at the Halls catalogs on 1990 and 1991 250 WMX WXE
there are quite a few variations for sure
seems a WXE crank or rod would make your life a lot easier

A tough year to own.... Husky did a major revamp of the bikes for '91 and then did it again in '92. I've had the chance to buy 2 '91 WXE260's and passed, as I was afraid of parts availability. Good luck and keep looking!

I'll let you known soon on the rear fender , ya I've found the shrouds . I appreciate all the help .
Out of curiosity what's the condition of the rear fender and what's your price ?

The shroud from the 90 is different than the 91 . Is there a certain year set or differnt models that the cagiva is interchangeable with besides the wmx?

i reread the listing
it gets better,,,, it's an updated as in dealer aftermarket
better than the original and factory accurate

My 91 WXE 250. I had this bike from about 98. Love it great rider.

Here is the fender never been mounted. I thought it might work on the WXE but different sub frame. It has some self marks where the seat would block it. The parts that would show look great. Let me know if you are interested. As any rear fenders for 91 are hard to find.

Sweet , looks great , u have a price ?
Also another thing . The bike has ran like ass for a long while now ,
I have recently found the time and have decided to get to the bottom of it .
I know it all recides with my jetting
The bike has fresh air filter , good reeds, good spark , and the moment the spark arrestor goes on the bike runs like ass ...
Also the packing is good in the spark arrestor
.
So I took apart the carb and found that it has all stock jetting .
However as I took it apart I found a couple things

The floats are different weights , is there a reason to this ?
The needle circlip has been missing
Also the needle valve is atleast 9 yrs old

So, I will be ordering a circlip .
Some jets,
Floats if I need to ,
I will be ordering a new needle and seat soon as someone can answer me this ...
What size of seat do I need to get ???
Main jet will be around 182-188

Unfortunately I was unable to grab such a great deal, but it is ok for now beings my current piston is still good from the last time I replaced it
