  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Give Ebay a try, that's where i bought mine. Mine is a 240 but my barrel was shagged so i tracked down a 85 wrx 250 with piston, still on standard ring.

I check ebay everyday no such luck.I'm about given up on it .My mechanic don't even want to touch it .The piston is chewed up debris all over the crank shaft .The bottom end need to be open and see what kind of damage it cost to the bottom end .i'm so into deep in it .Its not even funny .Thanks Woodee

Still need the right cylinder for my 86 Husky wr 250 .The 85 cylinder that i bought do not match my 86 .I called Steve he doesn't have a replacement cylinder for it .I guess the next step is try try to rebuilt the cylinder any idea what company close to NC state could rebuilt it

Any competent mechanic can replace the sleeve in the cylinder. They need to find the right sleeve for it. If Steve at www.huskydoggg.com does not have the sleeve you can try one of our sponsors www.hva-factory.com You can inquire at LA Sleeve. They can replicate the existing porting in your cylinder and install but that is really a last resort in vintage world. You always try to buy a part before you have one made because of the cost.

In what respect does the 85 cylinder not match your 86 cylinder? If it is merely porting, I would at least try it. If it is an air-cooled cylinder then you at least have a cylinder liner donor As far as splitting the cases, you can do that yourself with some basic tools and carefully application of pullers. You can download a shop manual from HVA-Factory if needed
