• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

'86 400 CC/XC for MX ?

Husqvarna
AA Class
Decided my next ride needs to be a '86 400 CC/XC. Wanted a 250CR but had a '84 400WR for Diamond Don's few years back and I recall that motor was awesome. As will be using 95% of the time for vintage mx, any recommendations for mx'ing it. Now just to find a good one ! I would guess that will found them out west CA,NV etc.

I will have an 86 400WR for sale later this year. I am making bushings for the rear engine mount as the PO already predrilled the rear mount for that. I have a new Wossner piston kit for it and the cylinder has been bored to fit. The frame is stripped and about to be painted while the sub frame is already painted. I have the stock exhaust for it as well as a hand coned copy of a Dynoport expansion chamber. It has Husky Products (XC,CR)fork dampers and a rebuilt Ohlins shock with about 12.5" at the rear wheel. If you want it done a certain way, I will set it up however you want it

I also have a 85 400WRX for sale soon. This was a one season bike used for 1985 competition then rebuilt by Husqvarna and given back to the rider. He stored it nicely as he got a new bike for 1986 season. About 18 years later he sold it to the quad guy that I bought from. It was too much for him and was sold to me a year later. I thought the story was BS until I had the clutch cover off and found new quality clutch basket and plates. Also found the suspension links were updated to 1986 specs when it was rebuilt. I am located in CT so I may be a little further away from you than the Left Coast

The top end is not extra, it is the top end from the 86 400WR. It had a very sloppy std piston in it and it had to be bored to 2nd over to cleanup properly. It is not going on the bike until everything is ready to assemble
