• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

85 500 xc or cr??

Just bought this and am buying parts to restore it. I have no paperwork on the bike, and unfortunately the numbers on the frame are only partially legible. the numbers off the engine are: 16 14 582, 1615271 and lower on the case is the numbers show in the pic above, 2063 0330. I have bought a new clutch cover, water pump impeller and cover, brake/ clutch cables. I found that dc plastics has some hard to find husky parts also. modern clutch cover for this made of aluminum not magnesium so the coolant wont corrode it. If anyone can help me determine what model this bike is it would be helpful. I'm also looking for a lot of other parts. stater, swing arm, and clutch being a few of the bigger ones. I could use some info on redoing the reeds and carb rebuilding kits as far as brands to go with. I am also leaking oil out of the front chain gear, I believe the case has to be split for the bearing, Anyone ever tackled this job before?? I havnt..... I will have more pics to post as the project goes on. any help appreciated. Thanks****************************************

looking at the rear brake is the quickest way to tell
look for a long square tube from the rear brake to the frame just below the brake pedal it's CR (picture provided)
if there is a flat piece of aluminum from the brakes to the swingarm it's XC

Looks like the spark arrestor silencer in the picture.

At least he didn't join ask a lot of questions and then try and sell the bike.

I see a spare swingarm on the ground. It has the two cross pieces which in my stuff seems to come on wr and ae but that may vary.

man i hate the join, ask, and sell crap. really makes you feel like youre working for someone earning them cash, instead of just helping someone.
