• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

'82 Husky 250 CR Restoration

DSCN0687.JPG I bought a trailer load of miscellaneous parts from a guy in Vegas that included frames, engines, wheels, forks, seats, etc. I'm almost done with the project. I completely went through the engine with new bearings, seals, and a new 3rd gear on countershaft which had a dog completely broken off and laying in the bottom of the case. I'm almost done with the project but its been tough because I've never done a '82 which is different than earlier models including the transmission. Fired it up today and it ran great! All the gears work fine. Just needs a little fine tuning. I installed the fender I just received from Vintage Husky and now its ready to sell.

Excuse me for my bad english but where you buy the stickers hva pro-circuit for the front fenders?? thanks:)

You will not find this Pro-Circuit sticker except on the original fender that came on the bike. Mitch Payton's dealership used to be located on Lincoln Ave in Anaheim years ago and thats why I decided to use the old fender on this restoration. Thought it would add a bit of nostalgia to the bike.

Beautiful, almost too nice to ride, i had a 79 OR like that almost couldn't bring myself to getting it dirty, i said almost LOL.

The seat is at the upholsterer right now and when I get it back and attach the rear fender, this puppy is on Craig's List.

In one Picture there is some body filler on the Gas Tank and then the finished picture shows a great looking Tank. Are the sides of the tank Polished or are they Decals? I havn't figured out how to polish body filler. If you look at the Tank on my bike in the Picture its a 3.3 Clark Plastic with Decals. Are the Rims Sun? Last I checked Sun was the only one still making Gold Rims. Nice Looking Bike....

Avery make a product called "conform chrome." Its not cheap ($50 for 4 sf) but its simply amazing. You cut out the chrome insert according to the model by making a template, peel off the protective backing and you can place it until you have it where its going to go and then burnish it down to the tank with a damp cloth and a plastic scraper. The material conforms to the curves with no bubbles or wrinkles. Then put 1/4" pinstripping around the chrome, add sticker and 3 coats of clear and your done. I'm really impressed with the results. Here is a link to it: http://www.metrorestyling.com/Avery-Dennison-Conform-Chrome-s/51048.htm

The rims are Sun rims 18". I had to put a new set of spokes on the rear because the old spokes were rusted. $125 at Buchanans in Azusa. I painted the rims with VHT Gold paint from PepBoys. It's a pretty good match. I used the same on the fork legs and Ohlin reservoirs. I just got the rear fender yesterday from Vintage Husky so today I will finish it up, take pics and put on Craig's List.

Do you have a source for the service manual for this bike? Im rebuilding a 1982 CR 250 engine right now and I cannot figure out how to get the transmission put back correctly. Does the shifting drum have to be in a certain orientation? I have put it back together a few times but when I bench test it, it doesnt seem to shift right.
