  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

read all the post on the 40mm improvements very confusing ,first of what seals are best new damper rod piston ring a must is there a how to on drilling the damper rods .ie size of hole and spacing , can get yss pd valves and springs more easily than racetek in the uk any one got a set up. think ill go for new springs first . the ohlins look to short 16 1/4 think there of a rm or ktm .someone fitted itc rod ends thanks

gosh gee willikins thats a spiel right there...im still trying to decipher it:confused: OK here goes.. seals (ärf arf") there are kawasaki 39 51? - 11 seals that fit and work well. Phil at Husqvarnaparts.com has good seals as well. yes, you need to replace the damper top out rings regularly. There are kits about (pro circuit) that have replacement damper rods...i havent found any specs on redrilling the stockers. springs are important and all say they replace with shorter springs to give less preload but consult a spring mob for all the details. the jury is out on whether ITC is better than std ohlins damper sets...best ride a few and see. there are good ohlins shock guys about with subtle damping adjustments. a respring for your conditions could be advisable... i think i covered most of it

thanks the shocks are to short think 17 25 is the length there not itc. looked on ebay art do seals skf do a 40 52.25 50uk !!!

thanks for the help the shocks for the 82 are 17 25 long. not going for new springs 160 uk !!! going for yss pd valves and cut springs ,do need help on drilling damper rods and oil type .air gap

Robin, have a word with Robin at Falcon Shocks. His springs may be cheaper. I have also used rally car springs from Rally Design or similar. The i.d./o.d. is a couple of mm bigger but they work just fine. Best of all they are cheap.
I only bought a set as I couldn't find the rate I wanted and refused to keep spending silly money on springs that were too hard.
