    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

A group of us finally completed a trip we've wanted to do for many years. To travel from Salem area to Astoria, utilizing the many OHV trails and old logging roads, and avoiding pavement as much as possible. Then come home on Hwy101 along the coast... a 2-day adventure.
We pulled it off and it was amazing.
We road backroads from Salem to Willamina and then jumped on to trails form there on. Some pavement was necessary while connecting trail systems and different state forests.
Maine areas we crossed were Upper Nestucca, Trask, TSF, Jordan Creek, Diamond Mill, CSF, Nicolai Mountain... Total mileage was around 440 miles.
Bikes: Husqvarna TE610, SM610, Terra650, Husaberg 450, DRZ400SM, KLR, and a Buell street bike, who decided to call it a day a few minutes into the trails.

I have not watched the video but this looks like a very cool ride and some good times ... That varying terrain is the type of dirt bike riding I down with ... And toss in a little streeter stuff (time to rest-up some maybe) and a coast line, its about the whole package ... The cool thing on that open water is the changes it can make every ~24 hrs or so ... Always the same, but can always be different ...

My riding was about due east (GPNF) and a little north of the most northern point on your ride, but I can see the PNW in those trail pics :) ... Brings back a few memories ...I'd like to ride there again some day for the sights and see if I can ride that area better now than 4 yrs ago when I left.

I'll bet it was a fun trip!

And it is good Mike finally got to see a TR650 in person (Mike makes the moto-mule)

I'll venture to guess the TR650 might have had the OEM Sahara's replaced with something a bit more dirt oriented.

Believe it or not, the TR650 has the stock tires on it. Only upgrades on it so far (it's my cousin's bike), are a Seat Concepts seat, skid plate, crash bars, and a -1 tooth front sprocket. He plans on some more dirt oriented tires soon however. :)
