    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hi Guys,
Just finished assembling my 390CR. Complete restoration, new just about everything.
Put oil and gas in it and was getting ready to ifre it up, when I realoxed it won't shift?
Shift lever moves up and down like you would expect, but it won't grab a gear.
Tried rolling it around but no difference.
I put the trans together in 4th gear with 1 tooth on one side and 2 on the other like the picture in the manual. Side cover went right on and engaged the shift shaft.
I know I have to split the cases again, but what did I miss?

Hell,it's too pretty to ride anyway.Sounds like the shifting gear plate isn't engaged with the drum.Always check your shifting after you close up your cases.
 
It's kind of a frankenbike, but it was built to ride.
81 swingarm, piggyback Ohlins, 40mm forks and 18" an backwheel.
I'm pretty sure the gear plate is engaged.
That's the plate that the shift shaft goes thru right.
I don't think the cases would go together, if it wasn't in place.
That's the plate that has to be installed in 4th gear with the teeth visible on either side of the drum, to make sure you get all 6 speeds.
At least, that's the way I understood the manual.
I'm thinking I might get it to move with the side cover off, using a cresent wrench on the shift shaft.
Maybe I got a little burr in there somehow.
 
Maybe the shifting dog fell out of place.It might be hard to determine the problem.When you open the cases those parts tend to move out of postion.
