  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

72'WR250 carb to air bell seal

Can't seem to find a new one, it is a Mikuni to stock airbox seal. Does anybody know where to look? I have tried the vintage guys on the West coast with no luck, here's a couple pics. The old is loose , I'm concerned about sucking dirt.

Thanks for the link Gord, I bought it with the Mikuni, only had it 3 weeks, trying to get it sorted out.

You won't find a factory sealing ring for your Mikuni you'll have to improvise, heres why. Your bike came with the Bing 54. Your Mikuni and the attached intake manifold was an aftermarket kit that had two o-ring grooves turned into the carb were it fits into the air cleaner bell. Many people purchased only the manifold and then fitted a Mikuni off of who knows what, so many of these applications didn't have the o-ring seal. All of the non o-ring applications I've seen were sealed with gasket sealer of some type. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Yes I'm finding that out, wouldn't take much to turn oring grooves into the carb and I know just who would do it. That would fix it from now on. Maybe a little work to find correct O-rings but shouldn't be to much of a problem. Thanks

My new mikuni would just fit in the bell with nothing else. I bought a bicycle tube and cut it the width of the carb intake. Took my dremel with a sanding drum and enlarged the air bell. It didn't take a lot and it made a good seal.

That's good thinking, I had already taken my carb in to a machinist when I saw your post, here's how it turned out.Candy calf 006.JPGCandy calf 005.JPG
