• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

630 Tail Light Lens Replacement Options

Lost my tail light lens (2011 TE 630). The LED portion of the assembly is still there and functional. Dealer says he cannot order just the lens but must order the entire assembly for the tidy sum of $102. Ouch!

First, anyone know whether the dealer is correct about this or not? Second, if he is, does anyone have a line on an aftermarket unit that will interchange with the stock one? Open to suggestions.

Thanks,
Hokeewaa.

Yes your dealer is correct. Lens doesn't attach with screws, tailight is a complete and sealed assembly.

I would think you might even have a chance for a warranty claim on it unless broken off from an accident. Not having the lens to verify no impact will work against you though.

No suggestion for aftermarket other than verify light output from all angles first if possible before purchasing. The TE630 LED tailight has incredible light output. I've seen a couple aftermarket LED lights that are really poor. Straight behind and level you can see but off to the side or up or down and light output is practically non existant. I've warned and complained to a couple riding buddies about theirs. Neither are listening to me so honestly I'm waiting for the day they get rear ended as their aftermarket lights are that bad. $102 seems like cheap insurance to me.

Does the warranty cover race use? ;)

My rear brake light is stuck in the on position. Not sure if it is something wrong with the front brake lever, or the rear foot lever. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?

Unplug one and then the other and see what happens.

If the front lever micro switch has come loose or is faulty will do this (ie if switch is open)

Thanks for the responses. Would be swell if it was a warranty-able item but since it was lost as a result of my tool bag whacking it during a race, it probably doesn't qualify.

Ran across the UFO Plastics unit that fits the 2011 TE 250. Wondering if it would fit the TE630 as well. Anyone know if the 250 and 630 fenders are the same Husky part number?
