• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

630 Problem

My sms630 has 5000 miles on it. It has a jd tuner and fmf exhaust, pu kit, opened air box. Lately I have been having issues getting it started. Once it is warm it fires right up though. And now starting yesterday, I turn the key to on and the fan comes on and stays running all the time. My N neutral light blinks all the time as well. I havent continued to ride it but can't seem to find the problem.

If neutral light blinks that is an EFI error code. Plug in iBeat and it will identify the code and you can start the troubleshooting process. Without iBeat you're just guessing and my guess would be a bad temperature sensor.

Mine is almost the same except for the stock exhaust. I have 5035 KM on it. My dealer thinks it is the temp sensor as he has seen a few with the issue. My bike goes to the dealer on saturday. I will let you know for sure after they look at my bike.

Had mine at the dealer today. All fixed up :) I know he had the bike on "ibeat" then changed the sensor. Quick well done service by my mechanic !

My neutral light has been permanently blinking since new. People on the Forum have very kindly provided advice and I went through all the known procedures (like disconnecting the battery etc) but it still blinks. It started blinking when the p/u kit was installed. There´s no local dealer with a diagnostic `puter, so I´ve just got to get used to it. Any new ideas? (Doesn´t look like a temp sensor problem).

My guess is the resistor used in the p/u kit is out of tolerance. It's feeding your ECU an out of range reading either low or high which in turn triggers the neutral fault light to blink. Pull your O2 resistor plug and measure resistance with an ohm meter. Top of my head I think it should be 2.2K ohms but research here on CH first. Don't trust my memory. If resistor measures out of spec just replace it, maybe 1 or 2 Euro at most.

Am not much good with an ohm metre (would a rusty German WWII coal scuttle steel helmet wired to an electric toaster do the trick?). But if it´s really cheap, I´ll order the resistor (`tis the only thing I haven´t done).
Thanx for the advice ...

Call a dealer and ask. I know they were pushing the button and going threw the instrument panel to clear the flashing light. If you want the name and number of the guy who fixed mine PM me. I could give you his email as well. It never hurts to ask.

Mines also doing the same now,was also having starting issues now fan stays on and neutral light flashes.Problem is dealers are miles away

Cold start issues, fan on and flashing neutral light = faulty temperature sensor.
only a $15 part so I'd just order and replace it rather than a long drive to the dealer to have it checked it out.
