  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

So i have a 07 wr250.......... i would like this 6th gear, what do i need and where do i get if from, and do you just put it in the gear box or do you have to change all the gears?

Sean,

I still think the easiest way to make the swap is to find a hammered pre-99 250 or any year 360 and part out the bike except what you need. The problem is that if the bike is in any kind of decent condition, I would just swap motors or ride the older bike. Check out Kelly's threads on his WXC 250 and how much he likes it.

Do a Craigs list search and see what you find.

Good luck,
Walt

Hi Sean,
to buy the parts from Husqvarna you are looking at £1000 approx. Then there is the labour on top.
Keep on the lookout for a used 360 I think!

yeah sounds like a plan!

would a 1976 box fit i found one in the us

Or ill get used to cruising at 55

No, I'm pretty sure a '76 won't work. It will have to be something after around '89 or so, I'm not real sure where they start to fit. It will have to something, "post cagiva takeover".

Sean,

The 96 CR250 box will fit but I don't think you are gaining anything. I know a 91 tranny works and later. But there are a couple of models in the 90's that came with CR 5speed tranny's for MX so you need to be sure it is a 6 speed. I believe any year 360 other than the mx version in 92 will work and any WXC 250 will work. Jusk make sure it had a 6 speed.
