  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc 570 Husaberg to a WR300???

FYI the worries I had on the frame durability were confirmed by the guys at Halls in that they were aware of frames cracking in places however they actually reinforce the areas as part of their set up when you buy a bike from them. It seemed like one area that they had problems with was on some of the tabs holding misc. items like the coil for example. They also said the newer frames 12'-13' did come from the factory with extra bracing in high stress areas, like the head tube, just not enough so they add more. You can believe what you want after reading that but I for one am glad I asked the questions.

Thanks for your comments

So where exactly are they putting the reinforcements besides the head tube and holding tabs? I'm guessing near the bottom where the swingarm bolt goes through, engine mounting brackets....

I'm starting to think that my CR 150 won't make it to many races before that issue gets addresssed.

The guys at Halls could probably answer that better than I could, I'm not familiar with the 12' and older chassis to know what other bracing was added. After talking with Halls and looking over the bike (I'm in the Engineering Profession) I felt confident that the any frame issues had been addressed by Halls and the factory so the frame would hold up during the Hare scrambles I race in.

Got a chance to do a little riding and some dead start hole shot practice time on the WR300.. Got to say its gonna be a fun bike for sure! It turns very well and feels solid. Compared to the 570 this bike is a puppy but one that will bite if your not paying attention LOL! I could see doing a 10oz FWW or trying the Lectron or both to help gain a little more on the bottom and smooth out the low to mid transition.

I'm going to start another thread about starting this bike haha.
