  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

510 4t ignitions

Hi thumper fans, I've got a couple of 510 4t and all have bad ignitions. 2 are tx with external mounted ststors and 1 is a tc. Eletrex and HPI have ignitions, has anyone had good or bad experiences with these? Any fitting issues? Can they be installed as internal mounted stator? We've got a fix for them running not, we're using an aluminum sleeve that's been Nickasiled .Craig Hanson has a kit that comes with a new sleeve and fitted Wossner piston, no more over heating and much longer piston life. If you do wear out a piston, sleeve can be replated and new piston fitted..Craig also has a fix for the twin leading shoe front brake, he makes a aluminum relating rod with spherical rod ends at the pivots. No more flex! It's threaded with L/R threads to allow even application of shoes. Let me know if anyone is interested. I'm using Vintage Brakes shoes and heavy duty Teflon lined cable, big difference! Jeff

wow 3 of them
kind of abusive to yourself :D

Hey Jeff !
I know Craig does wonderful jobs with Nickasil cilynders and Wossner pistons !
He prepared one for me before coming back to Italy and I will use it as soon as I get home. The job looks very nice, believe me.
I didnt know he makes a aluminum relating rod with spherical rod ends at the pivots.
Have you any pic of that please ?
Thanks for now
Giuseppe

Hi Jeff
, Electrex World supplies the stators to HPI. I fitted one to my 87 510TE'with great success. You need to recycle your SEM mount plate as the one provided by Electrex World is wrong. I skimmed 1 mm off the thickness to ensure it didn't rub on the flywheel. There is a thread on this forum about what I did.

I used the HPI CDI and coil. Bike starts well with a non resistor plug.

Thanks for the info on the nikasil and brake -'I assume you are talking about the air cooled models.
