• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Guys,
Any one got a spare Husky 500 cylinder they'd like to part with?
i'd even be interested in a complete engine.

John

Found one from Rick Horvat in Ohio, he's got a exchange deal, you
send him your old one & he ships back a freshly bore one with a complete top end kit. Rick is a great guy  i've had Ohlins
shocks rebuild by him & he's a real find :applause: these days for all us Husky nuts.

Rick also told me he's got a supply of Husky big bore cylinder liners
should you need one. He's working on making more for the 500 as he's
out, but he's got 390,430,400 ones in stock :notworthy:.

I changed the title slightly so that people will know to look in here for exchange cylinders etc.

Just got my 500CR top end from Rick

Just got my 500CR top end from Rick, freshly bored, new piston/ring, clips gaskets etc. All i can say is awesome , Rick exchanged
my cylinder with the broken liner & sent me this set it a week :) ****************************************

rick's the best, he's my "go-to" guy for a lot of things Husky and has built alum torque arms, Ti axles, etc for my 430. One stalled project we'll probably pick up this winter is putting a 430 liner in a 500 cylinder (require cutting it down). They're the same internal bore but porting windows will need to be line up. You ask why? Check out the difference between the cast-in reed cage on the 500/250 cylinders vs the bolt-on of the 430. Really, I'm getting tired of doing the stuff the factory should be doing! Oh wait, they're OOB!

Lefty,
That's a GREAT project. I've spent many hours looking at the later years water cooled 430 cylinder with that huge reed cage, wondering how I could get that into/onto an air cooled 430. You might be onto something!

Anymore contact info on Rick? Do you know if he does international (ie. Australia) work?

Thanks

Hi I use rick all the time, He has everthing you want for the huskys if not he will try to get it for you , has some honda stuff too Thanks Doug.
