• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

500 AE help

500ae er

Husqvarna
B Class
I am new to this site but have enjoyed it greatly. Such a wealth of information and beautiful bikes from the past!! I am needing some information continue my quest to revive my 1984 500 AE. I need some timing information and some help finding some carb parts or repair service for the 40mm Mikuni that might have some parts. They were robbed out of it and trying to find a 40mm has been tough. Thanks

Ignition advance 18 deg.
Ignition advance BTDC (piston) 2.8 mm

Stock carb
340 main jet
AA5 needle jet
45 idling jet
Air jet 0.7
Needle 7 DH 3
Throttle slide 2.0

Try Hall's in IL for parts.

Husqvarna-parts has 40mm carb jets in stock, there the same as other
mikuni, i just got some from Phillip for my 84 500CR.
If your looking for a carb i got 2 off Ebay.

I'd stick with the 40mm, the 84 500 got plenty of low end, unlike the
82-1/2 with it's 44mm & 83 with poorer jetting stock.

If you change to a 38mm remember U need to find a new intake &
air box boots, i had the opposite problem, mine had a 38 & finding
40 boots was big $
