  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

449 no start after oil change and zip ty oil tank install

kenaroo

Husqvarna
AA Class
this is my first oil change on the TXC. so bare with me.. I also googled and searched this forums.

Ok.. after oil change and zip ty oil tank recirculation tank install. I went to start and it ran and bogged and died like it ran out of gas.

I had to disconnect all the relays and connectors to to the tank install.. thought the relays were a little hard to re-connect. double check all the connectors but they look good. no pulled wires, cant see any that I might have pinched...etc.. messed around and it tried to start but didn't.

Now it doesn't want to start at all.. starter turns well.

did the TPS reset as instructed on the forums.

thinking I pulled a wire or jack up the relay somehow..

anything else I need to be looking at.

going to check the relays tonite

Pretty confused right now on what I did any insite on the trouble shooting would help

thanks.

You're right to think fuel system- also check both of your petcocks.

Anything yet? hmmm, ok- let's look at the weird stuff that would let the bike run and then act like it ran out of gas (it was running fine before, right?):
  • you can see gas in the header tank, so- CAN you see gas in the header tank?
  • is the header tank vented ok (pinched hose, no blockage etc)? it uses the main tank vent.
  • is there a rag in the air filter intake (well, any obstruction anywhere in the intake system)?
  • same for the exhaust?
  • you confirmed the electrical connections, right? including the injector?
  • seems to me that if you disconnect the injector end of the fuel hose and then pre-pressurized the FI (flash the starter, keyless right?).... you'd spray gas at 50psi out of a 8mm hose for 75' or more. sounds real, real dangerous- even if you were prepared for it (outdoors, fire extinguishers, fuel containers, kill button, extra person on a hose). OTOH, you'd confirm your fuel and FI system. I'm not really a FI guy, so don't listen to me.
  • didja check the fuses ('specially the pump fuse)? ...and if one blew: why?
I'll add to this if I think of anything else in the "weird" catagory.

I believe you can swap relays around to check them. You do have the shop manual so you can trace the wiring diagram, don't you?

thanks for the feed back..
I checked everything and I believe I have a bad relay.. I tested with an ohm meter and when powered up one still shows an open circuit. I have a few on the way.
I believe the relays are the same from looking at the book.
bike ran before the tear down..

Yep I'm learning these efi dirt bikes sure do have a lot more wiring. and boy is it tight in there with hoses and wiring.. my thought maybe I yanked a wire when removing zip ties on the wiring harness going to the fuel pump. checked everything many times visually.. after I get the new relays if it doesn't' run then I'll check with mulit meter and see where the issue is.
