  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

449 jd tuner

i'm new to the fuel injection world and have been reading about the JD tuners, however is there anyone putting them on the 11 TC 449's, all i hear about is putting them on TE's. also any info on the Ibeat? is this a must or don't worry?

thanks

Husqvarna racing team used powercommander 5's on the TC449. JD's are built for the TE/TXC, not sure if it will go on a TC or not.

Stephen gets 56bhp using one. The bike is 50hp stock, no idea what the bhp is. You can achieve more hp from a pcv, but its expensive and more complicated than the JD.

The JD unit is more popular because of price and simplicity. It is east to adjust and is set up to make adjustments like a carb that most people understand. The PC unit works best with the auto tune and can give more HP with tuning help like a dyno, a map from someone else, or by trial with the autotune. The question is how much do you want to spend and how much do you want to fiddle with it ? I put the JD on my bike and it is still running the stock settings because I just like to ride and do not mess with stuff hardly ever, heck my suspension settings are still stock.

one question i have is does it help improve with the starting, mine seems like it takes longer than it should. i'm not looking to gain a ton of performnce,

What kind of fuel/additive do you use? What kind of spark plug do you use?

Two things that works for me is using Startron which I am sure you have used before. Stabilizes your fuel and cleans the injectors (has same ingredient as Amsoil, Lucas, many others. plus has an enzyme in it).
And iridium spark plug # NGK CR9EIX (3521) which yields a hotter spark and fouls less without using a hotter plug or changing your ignition.

I hope it's as easy as putting a new plug in it. At GNCC's they use a dead engine start and I'm always the last one to get going.
