    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

410 610 570 trans cover fracture

Guys, when performing the upgrades on my ’00 410 the last week or two, ran into this below. It’s a hairline fracture above the oil fill window, to the left some. There was just some very small traces of oil residue (wiped off now), but that simply means it’s just a matter of time likely before it gets worse I’d imagine.

The factory must have over torqued it or something….bike has less than 14 hours on it and I know for a fact it’s never had anything pressed up against it to damage it. Oh well.

Question is, other than trying to get one of the stock replacements, does anyone still know if someone still makes one of the billet covers I use to see in the past on some 610’s and 570’s?

I’d rather go this route now for strength and durability.

Husky sell them I got a new one for mine as they don't have a window now! Only a small screw which is the fill level
 
Thanks Andy...yeah, they're like 160 bones, so it's a good backup plan. I think the org cover was $90, haha, as you mentioned the superseded one has no window and cost way more! lol

Now, anyone know where those billet units are?? :popcorn:

Cool! I've tried for ages to get nice billet or alloy bits for mine but you can't seem to get anything for the left kick engine! Not even an oil filler cap

You know, I hear ya, but sometimes George will just make something again, from the past, or now in the present. If you need something for that bike, and he's done it before, he can do it again. Only time and money. :)
 
Sweet cover Don! :applause: Me likey! Great price too! Is that George's or their own brew of covers?

Just below the cover, it mentions it's been out of stock since last Jan, wonder if that's still true.

I've never seen one in person, looks a bit different than George's. They had them listed on Ebay quite a while back, hopefully they're still available.

George's is excellent though and holds a little more oil than stock.
 
Sweet, yes, he did say something along those lines, nothing wrong with a little more oil. I paid a few more bucks than I wanted for it, but then again, pretty amazing customer service and I'll never have to deal with it again.
