  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

310 R Unrestricted

If there is a sensor going into the exhaust (rather than a metal plug) than chances are it is restricted.

MeMyself, have you got a picture of the left side of your bike that you can post up? (specifically the exhaust)

As duggoey says... If there is a sensor there, it's most likely restricted. Take a pic and we'll let you know.

Also, have a good look for the teeth count on your back sprocket. Check for "40T" written on the sprocket, or just count the teeth.

This is actually pretty frustrating.. I have to now make time to get to the shop and I am not even sure thats going to help. My only thought is that this is a new bike and the shop didnt know to remove everything duggoey mentioned above.

Duggoey, did you remove the stuff yourself? Any photos? I googled your points above, but nothing obvious for a newbie.
I'll take a photo of my gear and you can compare it to what you have. That might help to clarify. Without a doubt the 310 should feel more powerful than the 250 in uncorked form.

I didnt remove the gear myself, the dealer did before I bought it. I dont think Australian dealers even try to sell the bike in restricted form. The only reason they are restricted is to pass noise and emission law requirements. The bikes are designed to be operated in de-restricted form, the "restrictions" are only implemented for legal purposes.

This is the part of the exhaust where the oxygen sensor would be if you have one, it would look a bit like the top of a spark plug but with wires coming out of it and going into the bike's computer. See the large brass coloured cap on mine, this is where it is blanked off in the de-restricted form. The catalytic converter insert would also be inside the exhaust pipe just to the right of the photo.

These are the air filter frames. The one on the left is the de-restricted one (the proper one), the one on the right is the restrictive one. If you have the cage on the right and/or the exhaust sensor than your bike is most likely restricted.

Thanks duggoey. After much frustration I took it back to the shop. The mechanic was none too pleased that I was complaining... anyways long story short.. they found the throttle thingo.. the red one that looks like a cone with holes in the bottom. Much better ride.. surprising how much that effects the power. Front wheel lifts off the ground now when I accelerate.. yipeeeee.

After they found it the mechanic apologised for being abrupt. Service Manager is a good dude so I didn't mind too much. Bit annoyed, but they gave me a free 1000k service.

Thanks to all you dudes on here for helping out. Great first experience of Cafe Husky.
