• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2nd Generation ZipTy Coolant

I want to use 2nd generation coolant in our 2 KTM 690's.

I've got two half gallons of the 2nd generation Zip Ty coolant on the shelf. I've also got 1 one-half gallon of the generation 1 ZipTy coolant on the shelf.

Tinken had once stated that one shouldn't mix any water with the Zip Ty coolant. I've got the one half gallon of generation 1 coolant to flush the cooling system of water based coolant on two bikes.

Can anyone at ZipTy give me some guidance on what level of water in the 2nd generation would be "bad?"

I never flushed. Just popped a low drain hose and refilled with The ZT Gen 1. Small amount of residual water not an issue. Still clear after 2 years. On a 310.

Just getting back to the work side of things after the holidays. As the others said, it's not the end of the world, but the water won't really mix, it just creates expansion in the system until it eventually works it's way out.

I was quite worried about the brown junk that dropped with my stock coolant which Tinken later told me was a result of leak stop tablets they drop in from the factory. I flushed mine with water until it drained clear, blew it out with air, and left it open overnight before adding the Gen1. It's possible I may have gone a little overboard.

I'm sure you have already thought of this, but in a pinch you can mix the Gen 1 and 2. The XF2 is designed to be more efficient than XF1 because it has a thinner viscosity so it flows better through the system which helps with heat transfer.

River-Runner, what color is your XF2 by chance?
