• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

At last we have 10 new gears in stock!

Please check the part number on yours before ordering, as some parts manuals show the 886 part...

Are both of these 886 and 272 being discussed lately are 70 tooth primary to mate up with a 39 on the engine? The 886 having 21 teeth on the starter portion and the 272 having 17 larger teeth? It seems year part number (in the manual) displacement air or water cooled gets confusing. I guess the number on the gear should be real.

886 is 81-430 allmodels, 82-430,500 all models, 83,430,500 up to frame number 430 WO01901 and 500 CO06000 and XC06000. 886 Has 70+21 teeth and 885 crank gear 39 teeht. And the kickstart gear i dont know and the gear between kick and clutch basket i dont know.

272 is the new one with stronger teeth, upgrade part with new kickstarter gear and the gear between kickstart and clutch basket. This came from 83 430 WO01901 and 500 CO06000 and XC06000.
Runs with 885 crankgear 39 teeht. 270 Kickstarter gear 34 teeht and the gear beteen kick and clutch basket 271 26 teeht.

The 272 gear makes it easier to kickstart the engine. Better spinning on crank and the its stronger.

The 272 gear was the first stronger gear to come out and was offered as a kit and upgrade. Husky than came out with the 427 gear to replace it. All 70 teeth and bigger teeth for small gear.
