  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

24 Hours on a 2014 TC250

What would be a really fun bike to ride at 24 Hours of Glen Helen this year? That was the topic of discussion a few weeks back with my usual teammates. We’ve done it every year, something like 14 times, usually on a Husky. We’ve used just about every bike option from 125’s to 450’s. The only one that seemed to be left was a 250F. After much discussion within the team and with our friends at 3 Bros, ( www.3broshusky.com ) we put together a plan to ride a 2014 TC250. A huge thanks to 3 Bros. I can’t say enough about these guys. They’re a great family run shop full of racing enthusiasts.

We picked up the bike a few days ago and so far all I’ve done is break it in. Haven’t changed anything. I have a GPR stabilizer on the way, something I can’t live without, but so far, that’s it. I spoke with Michael and Ty at ZipTy Racing and got some good advice but we still have a few things to figure out. Love to hear from anyone riding one of these. Any suggestions on necessary mods?

Suspension – So far it feels pretty good but it really doesn’t have enough time on it yet. Forks feel a little harsh so we might try removing 20cc of oil as has been recommended. We might have it revalved, but it’s tough when we’re setting it up for 6 different riders.

Exhaust – Will a full FMF system make a difference? Thought we’d start by Opening the stock Akrapovic and removing the spark arrestor. Any other suggestions?

Spare wheels – Anyone know if the wheels are the same as older (06-09) 4-stroke Huskys? I think the front wheel is the same dimensions as all 2 and 4 stoke models for the last several years. Rear looks like the sprocket is several mm further offset than the 2 stroke WR250 in my garage.

12V power – We’re planning on running battery powered lights but might add a secondary option if the bike can power it. The wiring schematic shows no lighting coil, but there are three unused plugs behind the number plate. One must be for the ECU, but I’m wondering if one of the other two are there to power the stock lights on a TXC/TE.

Thanks for any input.

I’m really enjoying this bike. I didn’t know what to expect since I have very little 250F experience, but after getting some time on it and starting to push it a little, I’m realizing the fun factor is very high. It feels very lite and easy to move around. It may not be the fastest 250F, but it’s really smooth and runs good. That makes it very easy to ride. Suspension is pretty good even for me and I’m not a 250F sized guy. I really think this will be a great bike for 24 Hours. Looking forward to it.
