• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Always been a fan of GG & quite a few Husky fellas & fellettes seem to like them. Nearly bought one in 2012. These new models getting great reviews & look the goods. Got a great deal on it so went for it! Rode today so officially has 3 hours engine time on it now! 20180908_181334.jpg 20180908_181313.jpg

Hour meter installed.

Also extended the coolant overflow & tank breather hoses under the engine & ran top 2 carb breather hoses up under tank. Interestingly no crankcase breather but 2 PV breathers. Also put a bit of silicone over front sprocket circlip & shifter circlip(uses a bolt & a circlip!).

20180907_224831.jpg Lithium battery is light AF! Tidied up a few connections but all in all fairly neat & clean wiring/connections.
20180907_224731.jpg Standard Twin Air filter. Nice big pegs. Adjustable brake tip is a nice touch. No issues today with foot controls even with brand new boots.
Frame rubber protection(backbone & sides under tank) is neat & frame guards are good.

20180907_202021.jpg XC models have this little intake blanked off standard. EC models(in Aus anyway) have PV breathers feeding into this airboot intake hole via a 'Y' piece. Purely for pollution/emissions crap I'm assuming as no one in their right mind would want spooge going through the carb!

20180915_005930.jpg Red or white?

Rode her yesterday for the second time. 6.5 hours run time now. Stock needle is rubbish. Way too rich-smokes & spooges like buggery at 40:1. Seems to run ok but loads up a little. Have a NECW & NEDW ready to go so will start with the NECW & see. Definitely need a 51 or 52T rear(up from 49T) as shes lacks a bit off the bottom. Head mod & better needle should help sort that too. Suspension is divine but need heavier springs still.

Estart(battery) didn't wanna know about a 1-2 degree Celsius start yesterday. Was fine once warmed up. Still might go back to a gel matt or lead acid battery in future

I'm thinking stay white?!

Bash plate/linkage protector to mount this week, oil change, bar risers, shorty clutch lever & headlight/tail light if they arrive.

The white guards do pop with the red fender and tie in with the number plate. Are you going to be able to road register it once you get head/tail lights?

Nah the XC isn't ADR(Aust Design Rules I think) only the EC. I'm an outlaw but don't ride on the road very much. Headlight & tail light just to make it look legit in case the fuzz go past me :)

That's kinda what I figured. Plus you can still get in late afternoon rides and get back in the dark. We've had a EC 300 at the shop for a while now to prototype parts. It's not even broken in and hasn't been dirty. I'm gonna have to sneak it out soon. Been wanting to ride it for months.

As for me as a moto fanatic, I am so happy to see these brands producing, wow we now have Yamaha, KTM, Husky, TM, G-G, Sherco, all building full comp 2 strokes!! along with their 4T line ups. Beautiful Euro machine, I want to see Gas Gas use a more Spanish Flag Themed Graphics package IE: throw some Yellow into the mix. But I guess the end user can have that made up.

Bolted up tail light & headlight. Had to get creative with heat gun & plastic strip to make a brake line guide but works well

Temporarily packed a few washers under bar clamps to raise bars a little. Need to make some longer clamp bolts to fit risers. Slid forks through clamps to second line(10mm down). Feels good. Modded stand so no auto retract & put AXP bashy on. Will get a photo as it's a decent bit of kit!

A bolt fell out of rear pipe mount(bolts from inside out) but luckily was still sitting on cases when doing pre ride check. Also 5 out of 6 front disc bolts were loose or backed out after second ride. Locktighted the shite outta them & done up tight. Rear sprocket & disc bolts fine. Put a dab of silicone on airboot bolt blank for insurance.

NECW on 3rd clip is a drastic improvement over stock needle. Runs much cleaner & more grunt but still spooging a lot & smokey. May try NEDW or NECW next clip leaner. Bike running very well. Head mod may sort spooge.
