• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC 2016 Broken speedo

jaxsplatt

Husqvarna
AA Class
So 8 hrs on the new 300 and the speedo stops working and looks like water in behind the led screen.
Dajavu 10 WR 300 done the same.
Took it back to dealer and was told yup there's been a few replaced in Australia and will be fixed ready for the weekend..
Gave it ( and myself) a real workout in the rocky, snotty hills last weekend and really lovin this bike.
Red spring in and mainly on on 2 setting on map switch and plenty of grunt to climb, pop over logs, rocks and washouts.
Drag race, rolling starts and second gear moto starts with a mate on Ktm 530 with husaberg 570 kit in and
Smoooooked him****************************************
Only thing I found it tends o dive in on Bermed or slow corners a bit.
Dropped it on one and big dent in pipe which I haven't got a guard for yet.doh!!

So 30 hrs on it now and the speedo has done the same thing.
I notified the dealer today and waiting to hear back on whether they will replace again.
I wash my bike after most rides with a low pressure ( cheap arse) water pressure cleaner but stay away from bearings and handlebar controls and sponge , soap the rest and wash off with the hose..
Pretty disappointing.

That sucks. I have 22 hrs on mine and no problem yet knock on wood. I wash after every ride as well.

Mate my 2016 TE 300 did the same thing after only 5 hrs...every time I wash it there is moisture underneath the screen where the LED is... I took it apart and cleaned it the first few times and last time I ran a very small bead of silicon around the lens/cover and it seems to have cured it...Bike only has 15hrs on it. Yes it shouldn't happen on a 14K bike !!

That's a bummer. I'm at 92 hours on my 15 and not an issue one. I wonder what the deal is. Hope they get it sorted for ya man.

Haven't heard back from the dealer so I will contact tomorrow and get a replacement and will run a bead of silicon around it like Michael did..

I have the same issue broken speedo!

Here in the UK they are bloody expensive to replace, a lot cheaper in the USA on the net but cant find anyone who will ship OEM parts

So heard back today that Ktm will replace the speedo but it's on back order..
Good idea Michael, I will run some silicon b4 install..

So new speedo arrived today and I ran a silicon bead around the join to try to keep water out.
Sorry space Ktm want the faulty trail tech back .
Hope the silicon works....

Since Ive siliconed under the LCD plate I've had no moisture under the screen anymore...the buttons were fine shawn, its leaking between the clear screen and the outer frame of the speedo

It's gettin in thru the join n not under the buttons is it Jax?

Mine was fine until yesterday - I washed the bike, today the speedo is dead and full of water.
The join between the botton of the screeen and case has failed. It lasted 11 months, 1330 miles, 65hrs.
Hopefully it will work when dry.

this tread is making me nervous! 25 hours and no problems yet and wash or pressure wash every ride (knock on wood)
Hoping this is an isolated incident.
