  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anybody ride one of these yet?
I may consider one for my new dual sport bike.
I like the bottom and midrange of the engine to be workable in tight wood, and not break traction to easily. I do however realize that these engines rip at the top.

I am also considering one of these. Its a 300 vs the plated 350 debate for me. I am worried that the 350 will not have enough bottom end power. Seems to be a lot of modders out there spending big $$ to pump up the bottom end. I am big bore guy but just got a new titanium hip on my kickstart leg so need to transition to a lighter more nimble bike with e-start. Good excuse to but a new bike though. My riding buddies have the new 500s and worship them - I cant trust their opinion anymore. Cam.

I have two friends with KTM350's that I ride with a bunch. One has the W and one has the XC. The XC has way more bottom end power and is plenty. The W feels slightly weak off the bottom but works fine. The dude with the W has a plate and dual sports it successfully. Very good do it all bikes. That said I have also ridden the KTM 500 and think i would pick that bike over the 350 especially if your going to DS it. Feels almost exactly like the 350 just more power but still quite docile. The new KTM 500 is probably one of my favorite new do it all bikes.

I doubt I will dual sport it much, mostly just connect trails. Be nice to have another husky in the shed to keep the SMS630 company. I wonder what settings give the XC the additional bottom end power? Cam.

The XC is like the SX, quite a few differences. Feels like two different motors. The W is easier in the slick the XC is a lot faster. IMHO

No real report other than the it handles much nicer than the big thumper. Fast enough not to worry and has enough bottom end that I think she is a keeper. I will be going to either 13/48 or 14/50 though. It has to be ridden higher in the rpm range than the big 520 and cant lug as good as it does but I didnt push to hard as its new still and breaking in. Stock suspension is pretty nice enven for my f@t @ss. Will be getting springs today to mach my weight, then a real shakedown can begin.

Im very happy and surprised at how light it feels, its a point and shot bike for sure.
Went with a friend on his new FE250 and he felt the same as me, hes a little guy with much more experience than me. Our third partner was on a new KTM450XC he is happy too but I think we did better!

I have. In fact the post that Rob did about the OEM Fe350s being super good was about my bike. Without getting into long ride reports, I'll say that I was absolutely shocked at how well it worked out of the box in both tight single track and flowing more open single track. It is super quiet and butter smooth with no popping on de-cell. I kept trying to find the lean angle/breaking point of front wheel traction and it was sticking/turning way better than my 300 or 150. (I know.. Apples to oranges) Of course the stock gearing is suitable for Bonneville but it went very well. I managed to look down while cruising down a dirt road doing 65 and the motor was low in the rpm range. Even when the pace became "sporting" I never had to (or wanted to as it is new) rev the motor. It pulled the super tall gearing getting bomber traction with the FIM tires. 65 miles of single track left me wanting to keep riding as I was not as tired as I usually am at that point. The first mod that it will get is probably 13/50 and a linkage guard. More to follow after the second ride. I might even check the sag or remove the price tag off the key. This is going to be an awesome dual sport/race/go get some groceries bike!
