  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc 2014 WR300 Spark Arrestor options

What is everyone running for a spark arrestor? I just picked up this bike and was curious as to what the best option was? I still have a completely stock exhaust system, and will need a USFS approved silencer prior to early August.

The stock silencer on my 09 wr250 is USFS approved and your 2014 300 should be the same (it should be stamped on the aluminum body). I bought an FMF Q-Stealth and it is slightly lighter in weight and quieter but if I had it to do again I would probably choose the FMF Turbincore. The Q-stealth did not give me any noticable performance gains but slightly smoothed out the power.

I have Leo Vince silencer..it's ok.. cheap.. it does come with removable sparc screen at the tail..

I tried and tried to find a TurbineCore 2 for my 2014 WR300 but the only one available was the Q Stealth. Maybe I wasn't looking in the right places but I will say
the Q Stealth is a nice unit and I'm content with it.

The stock wr silencer is a spark arrestor. It's not stamped, (at least my 2011 isn't) but it does have a page in the manual about it. I made a copy and keep it in my fanny pack in case of any leo questions.

wait4me, I am glad you said that about the owners manual because mine isnt marked either. Kinda pissed me off when I got it home and it didnt say usf approved.

One of the dealers I went to look at these bikes didn't even know it had a s/a. Was going to sell me one.
