  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2014 Husqvarna TE511

Calbred

Husqvarna
I am new to the board and just bought a 2014 TE511. For starters I thought 2013 was the last year they were going to make the TE511 but now that I have a 2014 is there any difference between the 2013 & 2014?

Welcome!
Start using the search function and type in 449 or 511 and you would find a bonanza of info, tech tips, etc for your bike.
The only differences are the black rims and different graphics.

Welcome to the family. Yes the 2014 finally got the sexy black rims back like my 2011!

Step 1. Ride that thing!
Step 2. Refer to the sticky in the top part of the 4stroke forum
Step 3. Check the ZipTy forum often for the latest goodies for your machine
Step 4. Repeat step 1 as often as you can and try to wipe the stupid grin off your face as you make those guys on KTM's feel like somebody stole their wallet! :busted:

As for the ZipTy tune should I wait till the engine breaks in or should i get it now? I was thinking that if the bike runs too lean with the stock tune that it would be beneficial to get the tune sooner than later.

Get it ASAP. Flame-outs are NOT good. Dont put yourself head over heels across a log or stall out in an intersection. Not cool or safe fo you my man.

That is correct.

My 2014 didn't come with a jumper plug. Do I need one to get the ZipTy tune? If so do I buy it from my Husky dealer.

No powerup plug? No problem :)

Thanks to whomever I stole all these pictures from. :D

Tinken beat me to it. As shown...a simple insulated wire jumper will do the trick, or you can buy the official one from a dealer.

Perfect, thanks guys. I am going to be in the Hesperia area on Wednesday if I call and make an appointment do you think ZipTy can do the tune upgrade will I wait or is it something that takes some time? While I am there what else would you recommend I pick up from them?

Just leave them a blank check and grab everything you want - it is easier that way!

You are going to be blown away by the new map. I was really questioning my purchase until I took the advice here and went with the reflash - the result is a bike in my top 2-3 of all time. Simply love my 449!

The bike is running great. I have the ZipTy map3 and a handlebar switch to switch between tune 1 & 2. I have removed the smog canister and have a FMF powercore4 pipe. My question is do I need to remove the O2 sensor or can I leave it in.

If you decide to remove the o2 sensor the bolt is a simple replacement, you don't need to hunt a $55 one from your dealer. It's an oil drain plug, 12x1.25 off the shelf at autozone or similar store $2.99. You can pull the sensor out and keep it protected in a zip-lock.
