  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC 2014 FE 350 oil leak?

Hi guys,

I purchased a 2014 FE 350 a few months ago. I have fallen in love with it. We went for a ride one Sunday for about 4 hours. 5 minutes from home we stopped to move a tree off the trail and all was fine. But between then and arriving home the bike seems to have developed an oil leak. I showed the dealer I purchased the bike from a photo but they didn't really seem overly concerned with helping me. Any ideas from here? image.jpg

Kind of odd... Were any bolts loose? I've had a slave cylinder do that but only after taking it off and reinstalling it.

I get some gummy oily grease that builds up under the gas tank sometimes from the vent line, could that be dripping? I've also heard some guys getting oil blown into the air filter and putting in 100cc less oil and fixed that.

Just hard to tell where its coming from by the pic.

Just my 2 cents. KTM uses a process to make non structural parts like engine covers lighter. Without going in too much detail it involves aerating the aluminium.
It also makes the cases develop pinholes sometimes, a lot of ADV1190 and Superdukes 1290 have this issue.
Inspect before you torque, as tightening the bolts sometimes makes it worse by opening the hole further. Wash and clean properly and have a good look. If it is a pin hole they replace under warranty.
Get a good mechanic to install it too as there have been cases where they just bolt it down and it cracks again. Follow the torque down procedure to the letter!

The holes normally appear round the holes for the bolts and mainly in the little corners.
