  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 TXC250 Gearing... 13/50. Need more Bottom End. Hare Scrambles

Chase

Husqvarna
C Class
Ok im riding a 2013 TXC250R. Currently running 13/50 with a Ti-5 Pro Circuit Exhaust. Mapped correctly. I am wanting more bottom end for GNCc/Hare Scrambles and some Woods Riding. I was thinking about going 12/50 but i heard of alot of wear it brings to the bike so i was thinking about maybe going 13/52 as thats the highest rear supersprox sprocket i can find. Would this really make that big of differnce. Mainly looking for more loft over logs etc, In 3rd and 2nd.Woudl the 13/52 gearing fix my problem ? IF Not what can i do to fix this****************************************! I cant really get the front tire off the ground on this bike. Unless in First poppin the Clutch... ANY INFO would be GREATLY APPRECIATED...

13/52 is probably the best overall solution. 12/50 would be good, but the slider would wear pretty quick.

After a lot of experimenting with various combinations of 12 and 13 tooth fronts and 49, 50, 51 and 52 rears I've settled on 12-51 as the perfect set up for my riding which is UK enduro racing, tight woods, often slippery but with some good open sections, really is a great combo, lofting the front is easy in first couple of gears and can still get a good top speed when needed.
With regard to wear, yes the front 12 sprocket will need replacing more often than a larger 13t but they are so cheap anyway. The slider has lasted nearly 3 years on my 2010 TE and are also cheap, try it, sure you'll agree. The 12t really livens the bike up.

My 2 cents
I would adjust the EFI where it is producing the most torque at the
RPM range you are running when you are trying to hop over logs
U could also raise the compreshion ratio that will also kick it up a little

Ok I found the 51 ( supersprox ) but they don't carry a 12 for the txc would a 2013 tc250 12t fit my 2013 txc250r?

I'm going to take your advice. I'm running 13/50 right now, but instead of going to a 52 on the rear, I'm going to drop a tooth in front and see what happens.

I'm pretty sure all the x-lites use the same sprockets, talon, JT are makes I've used.

If you don't like it I'll buy your 12t!! Sure you'll love it.

Hi looking at going 13/51 as 2nd too tall for slow stuff and 1st too high, how did fitting the 12/50 go thanks?

Hi what did u end up with mate?

On a side note, we have found head porting adds an incredible amount of low end torque to these engines. This transforms the engine from a mid to high range power plant to a mini-thumper.

Shall i break out the dremel then?

Do you get the same results with the blackhead as the redhead ? Would love more lowend mid on MY11TE250

I have a 13/51 and it feels peppy, but nothing dramatic. I stayed away from a 12 or a 52+ simply because of the lack of top end on these bikes. The tranny is gear so short, that on the wide open stuff and roads to connect the trails, I am screaming the motor to hit 55mph

Gone with 13/51 and get to try tomorrow n race sunday, same reason on goin further top speed is rubbish!

On a side note i have reduced my outer oil level to 290 as per MXA article on the TC as not getting full travel, results to follow!

I have also mixed 5w and 2.5w Rock oil suspension fluid to simulate the maxima 5w cst as per chart
