  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 TE511 fuel tanks not communicating

Be aware that in some situations you can get raw fuel out of the vent line.
Yep ! Everytime I ride fuel will come out when going up really steep trails. I would not tie in any line to the airbox that dumps hydrocarbons in it. A good way to start a fire . All it takes is a stall and a good backfire and your bike could become napalm .

And the gasoline will break down the oil in your filter making is useless and start to suck fuel through the intake, that is mixed with residue from the filter oil breaking down.

On a side note: Does air filter oil work well as 2-stroke oil?

Guys - use common sense when altering you bike. I do not have time to read and understand everything posted in detail, but messing with fuel can have downsides.

I've just finished re-installing the original two way valve (little flying saucer) on right side of tank vent, still routed to the ground, but this time I put the valve closer to the tank's vent and eliminated the "factory loop" of extra hose that was originally between the valve and the tank's vent. I'm not sure but perhaps thats where the fuel was sitting in the hose that was just enough to mess up the inflow of air and not quite meeting the pressure threshold to release the fuel out of the line. I checked the two way valve and it flows freely air into the tank but it does take a bit of pressure to activate the valve the other way - not sure of the number but there is a little resistance there to blow through it with lung power.
I had lots of fun yesterday with no issues, just the gas pressure releasing through the cap a bit, but that's was due to the one way valve I had on.
Heading back out again today, next step dial in the forks, I'm about 178lbs and trying to get back to 160 or less - cheaper than getting new springs, etc and better for me:-) my wife agrees!

I believe they were commenting on us crazy ZipTy guys modding my air box. Happy Easter by the way, we're currently out here in Johnson Valley with the Prospectors MC inverting my gas tank trying to get gas to come out. So far no luck, little green valve working I guess. Happy egg hunt'n. :)
