  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 TE449 questions

The linkage is substantially different though, so I think you may want a different spring rate....but it doesnt hurt to give it a try if you already have the spring.

Ya it is a 6.5kg on my 310 now. Might be too stiff? Racetech calls for a 6.1 on the 449 for my weight class.

Big question now is. If I open the air box, install the jumper or switch and flash the ECU, what mpg would I expect to see? I get mid forties on my powered up 310 now and have a range of 90 miles. I need the same or better with the 449/511 to go on trails I like.

I think I put a 6.0 on my 511 and Im pushing 300lbs fully geared up. If anything I find Racetechs recommendations on the stiff side.

Yes RT calls for a stiffer spring on the 310. Must be the straighter orientation of the shock on the 310 that requires more spring than the 449/511 platform.

So 449 or 511 that is the question I am facing now... Only $300 more for the 511. I may kill myself on a 511 though.
The 511 is the premier model unless you are racing in a specific class. Milage is around 41mpg with map#3 installed.

The only difference is the 511 has 27 cc more displacement. If that is worth $300 then you are golden.

Cost a lot more then $300 to make a 449 a 511 later on.
If the 511 wasn't $3000 more when I was looking I would have gotten one instead of my 449

Yeah as far as TE's I'd go with a 511, unless racing class is an issue. Then I'd go with a 511 with a 449 sticker lol.

I've spent a ton of time on a TC449 and only a short section on a 511. The 511 had sprockets for much faster riding so there isn't much I can say about it. I've read that the torque is the real difference. Hurry up and get one, you may not have a choice before long ;)
