  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 TE310R muffler question

RB7

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hi folks,
New to the forum. I recently purchased a new 2013 TE310R and I get to looking at the muffler and notice that it says on it something like "For closed-course use only. Never to be used on a U. S. hiway... under penalty of law".

What's going on here? Bike has original muffler and is supposedly street legal...

sounds like a TXC muffler was installed??
Can't be a TC muffler (TCs run the Akropovic pipe) P/N 8000 H5392

Look for, P/N check.

P/N TXC250/310 is 8000 H7310 (closed course)

P/N TE250/310 is 8538529 (DOT)

Sorry to have taken so long to get back. I can't see a part number on the muffler, but it clearly says it's the closed course muffler and not for use on U.S. Highways. Maybe near the end of the factory's run they just stuck whatever they had laying around on bikes? Suggestions? Does it not have a spark arrestor? Is it louder with this than with the the DOT legal muffler?

Well hopefully that will prevent them screaming down highways. They really shouldn't be on Highways any how - just cause it's not for highway doesn't mean it's not street legal. Which is probably a good thing in the long run... Want a highway bike get a 450cc or higher.

Do you live in California? I'd ask dealership if this is the muffler that came from factory with bike...If they said yah, I wouldn't worry - it's not a highway bike anyhow.

Also this may sound kinda dumb, but you double check it was indeed a TE model and not TXC
