  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I'm a husky fan and love my wr250 te510 and te 310 2012.
I ride a lot and promote the brand enthusiastically!
3 mates have got the new 310 r and all have starting issues! [on the same day together]!

why why why. looks like the same issues as the 11,s and 12's
my 12 used to stick when hot ! ive had my started upgraded under warranty and no probs since.

No issues here yet, but I'm getting paranoid...

Do you know how many km's are on their bikes?

There is / was a recall to replace Starter Gears etc... on the UK 013s.
Had mine done and all good now.
Do you know if they have the latest Gears ?
What is the Issue ? All the same ?

I had my gears replace too and still had issues. Turns out mine was a bad starter. Got it replace (under Warranty) and fires right up now.

If you buy an aftermarket battery, buy one for a 450. The smaller batteries have a hard time turning motor over. I Replaced a 2.5 amp battery with a 5 amp and starting problems were solved with my 13 TXC 310

Just a follow up on my bike after the recall, service and a mellow ride today. Stopped the bike after easy running. Talk for a couple of minutes and tried to start the bike. Cranked over a couple of times but didn't fire. Then clicked. Tried to kick it but locked up. So headed downhill and bump started. 5 minutes later stopped at a freinds house for 5 minutes. On trying to start it just cranked slowly, then all of a sudden spun fast and started. Clearly the recall didn't solve my issues. Today was not over 90 degrees nor was my radiator fan running at any point as I was cruising through the woods on a fireroad. It feels like not enough cranking power with the battery. Sometimes cranks slow while other times faster. Battery has always been close to a full charge on running a trickle charger so hard pressed to blame the battery but the way it's acting it seems like a fickle battery. Really dissapointed and have given the bike and Husky the benefit of the doubt. But I need a real fix or a new bike. Sorry to say it as the bike runs great when it runs. Just not a reliable starter.

If you try jump starting the bike off a car or truck battery see if it shows any quirks like it does with the bike battery.
Also, I've been told adjustment of the valve that works in conjunction with the auto decompress is key.

My 2012 starts like a light switch even after setting a month.

Check the valves, that's usually the cause of the problem. If the clearance is not ok, the deco-mechanism is not working and you (when you kick) or the starter motor will have to use more power than usual...

cheers

I was hoping the decompression and valve clearances were good after a recent valve check. Seems the logical culprit though.
