  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 TXC 310 Fuel Pump Relay

I have kind of a curious one, 2012 txc 310 i've had for a while, great bike, i sold it and it made it's way back to me.

It would randomly cut off and die on a ride, seemed like a fuel or spark issue. verified spark, injector was so so, got a new known good injector. fuel pump wouldn't prime strong.
Redid all the connectors with di electric grease and cleaned out the connector the ecu, stayed running pretty strong and took it around the block, all is well I thought.
Now fuel pump primes, it'll run for a bit right after the switch is turned on and the fuel pump primes, but then it dies. The diag connector for ibeats is pretty tore up, but I imagine my next step is to get that working so I actually see if it's getting rpm and what not. I imagine it is because it runs right off the bat, but I'm at a loss as to what would allow the fuel pump to prime, but then not continually stay energized while running and making the bike die.

Thoughts? Ecu time? any place is good with rebuilding them? I'd like to get it solid for a B bike.

I don't think I can edit my post just yet - probably just because this is my first thread and I've been lurking for 5 years lol. I am now thinking I need to keep it simple. Battery was getting weak so I charged it and it fired right up and continued to run. I'm now thinking there might be a low voltage cut off on the ecu and that there's just enough juice to fire it up not enough to keep it going. I'm going to charge it over night and then I'll pull mostly everything apart and give it a big wiggle test everywhere to see if I can make it fail. If not - new battery for me and I'll report back next time I can take it out.

as an update, wiggle test was random, it would be fine for a bit and then kaput. new battery helped for a bit, then it started doing the same thing. found multiple wires stripped and bare, stator as well crank angle sensor being very brittle, was able to move it around and cause the bike to stall, back probing the ecu confirms harness issue with intermittent connection from CAS to ECU. either wiring harness repair or replacing the harness. Will try to find a used one first and update this thread in a bit.

final update (hopefully), replaced with a 2012 te harness in MUCH nicer condition, soldered the ignition together so it's hot all the time so that no key is needed. the extra connectors are just laying there. have taken in out a few times and is running AWESOME in comparison to what it was. deff the harness and brittle wires from the tps / cas / all the things. Thanks to everyone for the random assistance in all the other posts that have helped me search, hope this helps someone out in the future for these wicked fun bikes!
Alan
