  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 TE511, First Ride, shifting trouble

Finally got to take the 511 around the block (country) for the first time. Nice power, but almost impossible to shift with my new el cheepo boots Fly boots. It seems as if the shift lever tip should stick outboard another 1/2 - 3/4 inch. Anyone else have this problem? I'll have to try once more with work boots on. Also found the shifter a little loose, was able to tighten it up about 2 flats. Have to see if it holds tight.

ive not had much trouble, but I can see what you mean. I think there was another thread about this but not sure where. I am sure there will be more educated input on this!

I have the same bike, and It shifts great with regular boots on, with my cheap oneals, I have to think about every
Shift to not miss any.....probably the boots, and mine also shifted and clutched better after a few miles, and
40 wt oil. Shifter is close to case, but I have gotten used to that....rode 15 back road miles tonight over to the
TT track and play raced with some guys....she is better than I am,,,
I really like the bike for my usage. I am over 300 miles, and a lot of it is track time, hope she holds together
Awhile....I clean it and check nuts and bolts every ride or two....I have changed oil 4 times, not seeing as much
Break in metal now. Hope you get it sorted, have fun with that tractor

WE purchased two new Husky's in a few Months of each other. A TE511 & TE250, both shifted a little stiff for at least 50miles or so. This issue is indicative of a Hydraulic wet clutch setup. Until it got easier I would double clutch it when I could. Also the plates have been broke in yet as they do it gets to normal.

It's the boots, I put on a pair of tall Redwing steel toe work boots, and it was very comfortable and easy to shift. I just need to find better boots.

I still have my old Fox comp 2 boots made by Alpinestars back in the day. I mean they are Rick Johnson signature back in the day. They aren't pretty, but they fit like slippers. The look and feel of most new boots (unless you drop about $500) is just not to my liking.
