  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TXC449 missing and shutting off today

Just bought a 2011 TXC 449 and took it out for it first race. I've ridden one other time for a few hours and it ran great. Bike has a JDtuner on it. Took off on first lap and bike was cutting out bad on topend. I had to short shift it. Came back to truck and diconected battery terminals to try and reset it. Went back out and it continued to cut out and now was shutting off for no reason. Bike died at the worst times, like on the worst hill!!! Came to truck and tightened battery terminals, its all I could think off. I also topped of bike, added about a gallon and took off. Bikes runs great!! No problem for last 3 laps. WTF!! Was it the gas or the battery?
Thanks

i posted last week about my bike spitting and sputtering after it got hot while riding singletrack, i still don't know what it was. i came home a checked all connections and then cleaned the bike up. took it back out for a short test ride and no problem?
wtf forsure has me scratching my head.
i installed a jd tuner on sunday but have not tested it since , i hope this cures it.
i will check your post to see what advice you get and let you know what my bike does.

We had similar problems that had us scratching our heads. What we found was that the vent hose that runs along the subframe rail would get pinched by the side panel. Check the routing on all vent hoses and that any zip ties used to hold them are not too tight. Dean Wood 760-244-7028 dean@ziptyracing.com

well i have not found the fix to my issue , i have bought a jd tuner, a fuel additive to help with ethonol fuel, non-ethonol fuel, checked all hoses and still when my 449 gets hot at about the 25 min. mark it starts cutting out and runs like crap!
who else has had this problem? i can't ride it like this , it has nearly put me over the bars afew times and has taken all of the fun out of riding!
some one has to have had this issue?

If it's injection / support electronics related then a dealer with diagnostics might be able to shed some light. Other than that the only sure fire way is to substitute parts for known good ones. It's times like this that a good dealership really proves their worth - a misfire after a certain amount of time could be a lot of things, from stator winding, to a temp. sensor, to a fuel system issue, an old fashioned ignition component failure to a duff ECU and beyond... :(

I feel your pain. I've been chasing this same thing for months. Closest dealer is over 3 hours away. The problem is intermittent so I have a feeling the dealer will think he fixed it and the problem will come back two rides later so I'll be stuck driving out there again.

This may seem silly, but have you checked the spark plug or replaced it? Sometimes an invisible crack in the ceramic insulator can become an issue at regular running temps. The closer to the base it is, the more likely the possibility of the issue.

no i haven't checked the plug but i will , the dealer just told me it sounds like a electrcal issue and i would need to have the dealer do a dyno test.
but the closest dealer is atlanta 6 1/2 hrs away?
