  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TXC 511 Suggestions on FI Setup

Throndson

Husqvarna
Hello, I'm a newbie to the site but have spent a lot of time reading about the 511 and 449's.
My bike has a fmf slip on and the race map jumper installed (Race map 2?). Also put a 13 tooth countershaft sprocket on for dirt.
My bike suffers from the dreaded flame out at low rpm which has my ridng buddies calling it a boat anchor for the technical riding we do. I'm sure its awesome in the desert however I live in BC (Canada) and its rare to get over 3rd gear in the mountains and woods around here. I also run the Bike in the winter with a timbersled Mtn horse kit on it.
I'm considering the following upgrades/mods to cure the flame out and get few more HP hopefully.
Feedback on the following would be greatly appreciated.

Race map 3: Any feedback on if the 2011 TXC 511 has a locked ECU? Im hoping its flashable.

JD Tuner: Sounds great however sounds like it leaves some performance on the table without racemap #3. Or race map 3 makes the JD uneccesary.

PCV: Sounds like the solution to my problem if my ecu is locked. Not enough coin to get the autotune along with it. Are these units complicated? and worth the extra $ over a JD?

Im hoping I can just get the ECU flashed with the new map (race map #3 aka "Akro"). I know the 2011 449's are locked but I haven't determined if the 511 is flashable.

Also has anyone made a cheap oil recirculater/Breather mod. The zip Ty one is nice but a little pricey for me currently. Currently I have just disconnected the breather hose from the airbox and zap strapped it to the frame. It spits oil over the engine when I put in the spec'd amount of oil but prefer it there than the airbox. Was thinking of plumbing it into a breathable bottle simply as a catch basin.

Thanks in advance for all the feedback!

PCV is the best solution without doubt. Search the web and you can find one for $300.
The breather mod from zipty has worked as advertised for me. You could just get the breather for
The top end, I think some guys have had good luck just using that, and or fabbing up a catch can.
Good luck.

I have the same bike, with the same issues. My ECU was not flashable, so I am about to order the PCV from fuelmoto.com, it seems like a good deal for $319.00.
Ty Davis highly recommended fixing the oil breathing problem because more oil will run cooler etc..., so I'm looking for a cheaper way to do that as well.
How much difference did you notice with the smaller sprocket on the front? I'd be interested to hear any updates, Thanks!

Also, on that open breather...extend it and put a filter on the end. Old thumper trick from way back. And make sure you arent letting dirty air into the clean side of your air filter.

Go to the Zip-Ty section here and download their premade PC maps...next best thing to the Autotune.

A cheaper solution to the full recirculation system is the breather and drain back system shown below.

If your ECU is locked then James is spot on - there are some decent deals on the PC V. I was very close to going this route until I ahd a day to shake out the dust after the map set 3 and all my issues (well bike issues) vanished.

If the sprockets are the same from TXC to TE (dont know) I simply dropped the front one tooth. I was dreading the swingarm swap, but was a total no-brainer. In fact, I dont think it took any longer than a normal c/s sprocket swap. I was done end-to-end in around 15 mins. Someone tookt he time to make a great Youtube video of the process and after watching it twice, it was simple. I think that may have been the one with an Italian mechanic - I recall that as it is the only motorcycle thing my wife ever watched...and she watched it twice.

Tinken, Does ZipTy sell the tapped oil filler plug? I saw the valve cover breather and oil drain plug but didn't see the filler plug.
Really like this economical alternative!

What type of power gains are people getting when upgrading to PCV and using the race maps?
Anyone have or know of a used one for sale?

Thanks for the tips!
Just ordered the PCV, can't wait to start tinkering and tuning it. Definitely going to try to rig a breather hose like the photo. I won't be home it for a few weeks, but I'll try to update eventually

Hey guys, I got the PCV and installed it today. It went pretty smooth, but now it doesn't run right...
It bogs out and doesn't rev past 4000+ rpm. I loaded the Zipty map, another map, and then even took the whole thing off, and it hasn't returned to normal.
What could I have I done? I did remove and replace the TPS sensor. I also tried the TPS reset by de-energizing and disconnecting the battery...
Any ideas would be appreciated, Thanks!

Um, not sure. We can accept drop offs on Saturday by appointment, but not regularly open.
