  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TXC 511 fuel tank

Joshua Ford

Husqvarna
AA Class
The stock tank is only 2.5 gallons, what is every one doing for extra gas. I am packing about a half gallon of fuel in my camel pack in fuel bottles.

Has any body found a spare tank for the bike? What about a number plate fuel tank?

There's an aftermarket tank that sits on the rear fender. Or, you can get a desert tank from Zip-ty racing that holds an extra 3-5 gallons.

The nomad tanks only fit 2011 bikes, they changed the plastics on the 2012 and Mick(guy who makes 'em) doesn't have access to the 12/13 bikes to make a new mould.

Nomad makes the fender tank. Zip-ty's tank goes in the traditional location and is for long distances.

Oh... I see. Well, it's one piece, I know I just took mine off. He just needs the fender part.

I have the 2011, and I am looking for the extra distance about a gallon... 35 miles more. Is the nomad tank made for the 2011 txc 511 sturdy enough, and the weight will not affect the sub-frame. I have put a tool bag on the rear fender before on older bikes and damaged the sub-frame.

I changed my 2011 to 2012 tail, the profile is lower on the 2012 by about 10-15mm. To do the swap you need the top AND under guard pieces ;) The '12 is alot flatter.

Safari makes a tank as well. It requires some work as it goes in the traditional place where tanks normally sit. Its 3.5 gal. If I recall.

I have thrash tested my Nomad 511 fender tank all summer and was not able to destroy it. Good product and we do have some in stock. I would note that I installed a petcock on mine so if I need to quickly remove it or splash gas in someone else's bike it is EZ. The main reason I did this though is the fender tank dumps intot he main tank which is cool. BUT my stock husky gas cap warped after time and leaked and made it a mess to use the fender tank. I put one of the nice husky hard parts aluminum gas caps on and 100% fixed the issue but still like the in line petcock for many reasons.

I am interested in purchasing one do I call or what? I did notice it was not posted on your site. Do you also sell hard parts?

What are the pieces I need to change my 2011 tail to 2012 tail? All the one-piece tail and what?
And I would ask you another question... In the 2012 tail is there the same piece of plastic as in the 2011 tail that holds the license plate with the rear light?
The piece with the rear light is this:
http://www.mcnews.com.au/2011_Bikes/Husqvarna/TE511/images/Husqvarna_TE_511_2010_054.jpg

Because i want to put an aftermarket license plate with included rear light and I want to mount it on the 2012 tail without having to cut the damned piece.
I hope I was understandable.
Could you take some pictures of your 2012 tail? Thanks

Well, rats.
I bought one a while ago with the plan to put it on for spring.
Read this, then went and tried it; sure enough, does not sit well on the 2012...
Anybody need one?

Mick emailed me, he is working on a 2012 4 liter version. He said maybe ready by the end of this month.
